Lest we think that South Korea is the only economically developed country that sends kids to other countries for the purposes of adoption, I was reminded again at the IKAA conference that the US sends our kids out too. In fact, in the UK the US is the 6th largest supplier of children for international adoption, and to our neighbors up north, we are now ranked 3rd after China and Haiti.
*Edited to add: notice that the US sends more kids to Canada than South Korea. [added 8/16/07]

A country should be judged by how it treats its weak: the elderly, the poor, and the young. I don’t think the US stands up very well compared to countries similarly economically situated.
