About 60 percent of all adoptions were made domestically in the first half of this year, making it the first time for them to surpass overseas adoptions.
It’s good to hear that domestic adoption is increasing in Korea. I wonder if the stats are a little skewed, though, because there were no international referrals except for special needs children from about Feb. – June of this year due to the new law that requires babies to be available for in-country adoption first.
It will be interesting to see how the stats look at the end of the year.
