Hello everyone,
I have arrived at the Adoption Ethics and Accountability conference. I wish I could spend an extra couple of days to hop over to D.C. I am really looking forward to the sessions. I am sure there are going to be a lot of hard questions I will have for the presenters. I’m going to spend some of my time in sessions geared towards foster care adoptions but also some time looking in at the international adoption sessions too. And of course, I’ll be part of the "Meet the Bloggers" session tomorrow night.
Come back tomorrow to read my thoughts . . .
You might also want to ask some questions of the foster panel as to why US children are placed with families in other countries…it seems that the Hague convention states that adopting countries need to be able to prove they can look after their own before they are allowed to adopt from other countries. With the US now a signatory to this – will this practice stop? Usually these children are the beautiful little black boys that no one in the US seems to want…
Looking forward to it!
