This was interesting in and of itself, but more than that it led to my watching a couple of dozen videos by several adoptees.
And I ended up thinking about one point. A point that began with an adoptee’s comment in reply to a parent’s comment to one of these videos.
That point being that we (not adoptees) need to realize this is who you are. A part of you. Not a process you are going through or a problem you need to solve.
Which leads me to further understand that I can never be more than as good of a support as I can be. I cannot solve my children’s “problems” for them. Only they can take their journey.
With any luck, and remnants of a parent that might think he ought to be fixing things will be long gone before they are in junior high. 😉
