Preying on prospective adoptive parents

I'm reading a book right now by Ellen Herman, and this story I just saw on the Today Show brought up all kinds of thoughts from the book.

Adam Pertman from Evan B. discusses being a good "consumer" in this clip. "Not of the baby, but of services."

Even with the clarification, it still is so distasteful to me, this use of commodified language.

  1. If people have to “clarify” the “commodity” PAP’s are paying for, there is something wrong with the entire picture. Adoptee’s are commodities, period.
