London – The BBC defended on Tuesday a controversial television show it is developing in which celebrities try to adopt a child.
Critics have slammed the series, provisionally titled Family Wanted, saying it trivialises a difficult subject.
"I am perfectly confident it will be a responsible series and hopefully it will shine a light on a big issue for a lot of people," said Peter Fincham, the controller of the main domestic BBC1 channel.
