  1. I had a similar job hunt experience… except much later in life… I was just out of seminary… and was looking at a parish in South Carolina… my wife and I waited at the airport for someone to pick us up. We were the last two there… when it dawned on the person that I must be the candidate.
She drove us to her home. Later in the weekend, we were taken to the Country Club. After dinner, the rector took me to the hotel and he mentioned, a little embarrassed, that Country Club was still segregated. I couldn’t normally eat there because I’m Japanese.
I was not called to that parish.
Too bad… but it wouldn’t have lasted long.

  2. That was a moving, MOVING, clip. Thank you so much for sharing that link… that double-edged/layered racism that comes with a white name and an Asian face, that is painful to hear about.
